Affordable Houses in Helena

According to the Helena Housing Authority, affordable houses in Helena are made available to low-income residents under the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program (LIHTC). The Montana Board of Housing (MBOH) oversees the guidelines that determine eligibility. Their website provides a link to apply for housing in the two areas named: RoadRunner Residences and Wilder Apartments.

For those that do have cash and credit and simply want to target homes in a certain price range, Zillow showed a list of homes for sale under $100K in July 2023. They started at $50K for a 1050 sq ft mobile home that doesn’t include the land. For $74.5K, it’s a very well-preserved and renovated manufactured home built in 1984 in Mobile City Park. It’s 924 sq ft and has a covered patio and wood deck.

Helena has it all for people of varying lifestyles, incomes, and ages. You just have to know where to look. While the internet is a great resource overall, it’s not the same as talking to someone who knows Helena “like their backyard.” Property values are always increasing as this area grows. Don’t wait to let a local real estate agent walk you through the steps to finding out exactly what you can afford.
